How do Bonusly points work?

Learn how your monthly allowance points and earnings points work.

Updated over a month ago

In Bonusly, there are two types of point balances:

1. Giveable Points

Giveable points are allocated points you and your teams have to give out recognition across your company. Each user has a monthly giveable allowance balance that automatically refreshes on the first of each month. At the end of the month, any unused points will expire.

Example: You start January with 200 points to give out. Throughout January, you give out 25 of those points. On February 1, you start fresh with 200 points (not 375).

Nearing the end of the month?

Once you have 15 days or fewer left in the month, you'll see a banner above the recognition box, letting you know how many days you have remaining to use your giveable points.

Have an additional allowance?

Points from allowance boosts do not expire at the end of the month. Hover over the โ“˜ icon to see how many points from your allowance boost will carry over.

2. Redeemable Points

Redeemable points are points received in recognition from teammates. They can be redeemed for rewards in your company's Bonusly catalog. Your redeemable balance has no expiration, allowing you to save up indefinitely.

Example: You start January with zero points from your colleagues. Throughout January, you receive 270 points from your colleagues. You spend 50 of those points on a gift card in January. At the beginning of February, you will have 220 points in your redeemable balance.
