How Bonusly uses AI

Bonusly uses AI to help your team recognize more meaningfully, lead with more context, and understand your culture — without losing the human connection.

Bizy: A new recognition sidekick and AI assistant

Bizy is the primary way you'll interact with AI in Bonusly. It's your personal recognition sidekick — built to help you and everyone on your team show up better for each other, every day.

Bizy has access to real-time Bonusly data — recognition, 1:1 history, check-in trends, goals, and org structure — so when you ask a question, you get answers grounded in what's actually happening with your team.

What Bizy helps with:

  • Giving better recognition, more often — helping you find the right moment, say something specific and genuine, and polish it before it goes out

  • Staying one step ahead of engagement — surfacing signals early, so you can show up before disengagement becomes a problem

  • Prepping for 1:1s with real context, talking points, and suggested agenda topics drawn from your team's actual activity

  • Creating a Bonusly 1:1 and helping you prep for development conversations

  • Submitting or updating your 1:1 check-in, and reusing a recent check-in from another 1:1 when one is available within the last 48 hours

  • Catching up on what's been happening across your team after a busy stretch or time away

  • Answering questions about Bonusly features and navigation, day or night

Bizy never acts without your approval. Any recognition, agenda, or suggestion is yours to review, edit, and personalize before anything reaches another person.

AI that works behind the scenes

Beyond Bizy, AI powers features throughout Bonusly to make recognition and performance smarter and faster. You don't need to think about these -- they just work.

Recognition and advice

  • Quick thank you suggestions: When you receive recognition, AI generates personalized response options in your writing style

  • Advice improvement: AI helps turn raw feedback into more constructive, actionable advice

  • Recognition quality coaching: AI helps improve the specificity and impact of recognition before you post

Meeting summaries and recaps

  • 1:1 summaries: AI generates meeting recaps, follow-up ideas, and agenda summaries from notes and transcripts

  • Development conversation prep: Bizy can also create a Bonusly 1:1 when you ask, help you prep for development conversations, and add talking points directly to shared 1:1 notes. It does not schedule or edit calendar events.

  • Team recognition summaries: AI synthesizes recognition and advice patterns for managers

  • Nomination summaries: AI summarizes why colleagues nominated someone for an award

Video and transcription

  • Video thumbnails: AI selects the best frame from video recognition posts

  • Transcription: AI converts audio to text and corrects company and people names for accuracy

  • Video recognition messages: AI generates recognition text from video transcripts while preserving tone

Insights

  • Recognition quality scoring: AI evaluates how meaningful recognition messages are -- not just how frequent

AI for operations and compliance

Bonusly also uses AI for business verification and customer support -- areas you likely won't interact with directly, but that help keep things secure and responsive.

Business verification (KYB)

When a company signs up, we may use AI to run compliance checks using public business information and customer-provided details (company name, domain, billing address). This is only for business-level screening -- we don't use individual employee data, recognition content, or 1:1 transcripts for risk scoring.

Customer support

Our support team uses an AI-powered assistant to help answer questions faster. It can reference limited account context and, with proper permissions, complete simple admin-authorized actions like refunding failed rewards. If it can't resolve your issue, it routes you to a human.

What we don't do with AI

  • We don't use AI to make employment or performance decisions about individuals

  • We don't use your private data to train AI models

  • We don't replace human judgment in compliance or support decisions -- humans always have final say
