Activating the Microsoft Teams Integration

Learn how to activate the Microsoft Teams integration in Bonusly

Updated over 2 weeks ago

While users technically can see Bonusly in Microsoft Teams when searching, or see a new channel that they are a part of, no Bonusly activity will be posted to channels and no personal messages will be sent to users until the integration has been activated in the Bonusly admin area.

To activate the Microsoft Teams integration:

  1. Go to your Bonusly admin dashboard. Click Company on the left-hand sidebar and then click Integrations.

  2. Click the Microsoft Teams integration box.

  3. Click the Activate Channels button.

Pin the Bonusly App in Microsoft Teams

In order to help users interact with Bonusly we recommend that you pin the app to the sidebar for them to ensure it always shows up. This can be done from the Teams Admin Center by creating Setup Policies that apply to all or groups of users.

Creating Teams and Channels

Microsoft Teams allows you to create teams consisting of any combination of people. You can add Bonusly to a channel to create a recognition feed relevant to those people.

If you want to install the Bonusly app for a new Team, create a new Team with your desired settings. You can also add a channel at this point for your Bonusly recognition feed if you’d like.

Note: If you have an existing Team you want to add the Bonusly recognition feed to, you can create a new channel within that team.

Note: You will need to repeat the create team and channels steps for every new team you want to add a Bonusly recognition feed to.

Channel Best Practices

  • Ensure that all of your employees are in at least one of the teams that has a recognition feed.

  • For smaller numbers of employees, an everyone team can work great, but becomes less relevant as the number of employees grows. In this scenario, consider having more teams with fewer people to keep the recognition feed relevant.

  • We recommend you set the recognition channel as moderated so that users do not get confused and reply to messages directly in the chat. NOTE: These moderation settings can only be set on channels that are not the general channel.
