Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security measure that enhances your organization's security by requiring your users to identify themselves with more than a username and password.

❗️Important: MFA is required for all Bonusly Admins

What is multi-factor authentication (MFA)?

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is a method of verifying a person's identity (for granting access to a system) by requiring a password and one or more additional forms of authorization (such as a code, a fingerprint, or a smartphone app). All Bonusly account admins are required to have MFA enabled for an additional layer of security.

What is an authenticator app?

An authenticator app is a 3rd party app typically installed on your smart device that will continually generate one-time passcodes that you use to access your secured accounts. These one-time passcodes will expire after a set period, making it hard for imposters to guess the code and gain access to your accounts.

How to set up MFA for your Bonusly account:

Step 1: You'll need to access a multi-factor authenticator app on your smartphone, desktop, or as a Google Chrome extension. If you don't have an authenticator app, you can try one of the free options above.

❗️Please keep your MFA app installed! You'll need to access it to generate a new passcode each time you log into your Bonusly account.

Step 2: Open the app to your preferred MFA provider

Step 3: Click on your user avatar to view your Profile settings.

Step 4: On the Settings page, click on Security.

Step 5: Click the Enable button at the bottom under Multi-factor authentication.

Step 6: A new pop-up window will open with a QR code. Scan this QR code with your MFA app to generate your 6-digit authenticator code.

❗️Note: The authenticator code changes every 30 seconds.

Step 7: Enter the passcode from your MFA app and click verify to complete the setup.

Step 8: 🎉 Celebrate! You've successfully enabled MFA for your Bonusly account!

❗️Reminder! Please keep your authenticator app! You'll need your authenticator app's unique 6-digit code each time you log into Bonusly.

FAQ:

  • Do I have to enable MFA?
MFA is required if you are a Bonusly Admin or if your company has chosen to require it for all users. Otherwise, MFA is optional.

  • What if I'm locked out?
If you’re locked out of MFA, contact a company admin and ask them to request an MFA reset for your account (include your work email).

If you’re an admin and you’re the one locked out, another admin at your company can request the reset for you. If you’re the only admin, contact Bonusly Support.

  • Do I have to download an app? What if I don't have a smartphone?
If you do not want to download an app or do not have a smartphone, you can add a Chrome extension for MFA to your browser or download an authenticator directly to your desktop.
