Can I give recognition privately?

Updated yesterday

Yes, if two things are true:

  • Your Company is on the Organization plan (some of our legacy plans also support this)

  • Recognition visibility settings are enabled by your administrator

How to enable (Admins)

To enable recognition visibility controls for your company:

  1. Go to Admin > Account Settings (or navigate directly to /admin/company/settings)

  2. Scroll down to the Hide Features section

  3. Uncheck "Prohibit users from changing post visibility (public, private, team)"

Once this setting is unchecked, all users will see visibility options when giving recognition.

Note: This setting is on the Account Settings page, not the Peer-to-Peer Recognition page.

How it works for users

You'll see a visibility setting button in the top left corner of the recognition box. By default, posts will always be set to public; however, users will be able to select this button to choose to display this post only to their team or privately.

As noted in the description of each visibility setting, Admins and managers will always maintain visibility into recognition posts, regardless of the visibility setting.

The visibility setting is also enabled for Awards (if your plan supports that feature) in addition to recognition posts.
