Bonusly's Claude Plugin

A lot of us are using Claude at work to automate parts of our daily routines, admin tasks, build out reports and combine data in ways that would have required a team of developers and weeks or months just a year ago.

With Plugins and Connectors, it's even easier to get access to that data, and now you can do that with Bonusly! We recently released our own Claude plugin that can connect to Bonusly on your behalf, using the same permissions you use to access the site through the web, and help you do more with Bonusly!

We've submitted the plugin to the Claude marketplace, so it will eventually be in their directory. Until then, the install instructions for the plugin are pretty straightforward!

From the Claude main screen, click Customize, then Plugins, then Add and then choose Add marketplace from the dropdown menu. It's going to ask you for a GitHub Repository. Put in bonusly/bonusly-claude-plugin and click the Sync button.

That should take you to a page where you should see a box you see a small box that says Bonusly with a plus sign in it. Click the plus sign and there you go! You've installed the plugin!

Click Customize in the left-hand menu:

Then click Plugins:

Then click Add and then Add marketplace from the dropdown:

In the URL field, type bonusly/bonusly-claude-plugin and then click the Sync button:

Then click the plus sign next to Bonusly and ta-da, the plugin is installed!

Installing the plugin in Claude Code is far less involved! It's a single command line call:

We don't actively test the plugin in Codex at the moment, but we have tested installing it and ran it through its paces in July of 2026 and it worked fine then. There is nothing in the skills that is Claude-specific, and the plugin follows the same standard used by both Claude and Codex so it should work.

The install instructions are on the plugin's latest release page and will be updated there if anything changes!

The plugin comes with a bunch of skills for both admins and "regular" users in your company. They make it easier for Claude to figure out how to use the tools accessible via the Bonusly Claude Connector, like the various terms we use to describe that data and what tools to use for what kinds of questions. We do this internally at Bonusly already. Our Head of Sales has a scheduled task in Claude Cowork that basically does the following every hour:

A task that used to not only be manual, but be delayed until our Head of Sales could get to it every day now happens every hour without any extra work by anyone. It took a couple of tries to get all the details right, but we have yet to write any scheduled task in Cowork that didn't take some editing.

Preparing for annual reviews on either side is a lot of work. It's hard to remember all of the work we've gotten done, compliments we've received, or praise we've given others. With Claude, you can easily grab all of the recognition you or your direct reports have received throughout the review period, summaries of all of your 1:1's, and compile a single brag sheet you can use to justify why all of your direct reports, or you, deserve a big raise or a promotion!

If you also have another system connected to Claude where the performance reviews actually take place, you could take the data you gathered from Bonusly and just send it right on to the other system, no copying and pasted needed!

Another great use of scheduled tasks in Cowork is to remind us of how productive we are and what's still in progress day to day. Using the various connectors we have set up in Claude, it's trivial to get an overview of the code we shipped, the emails we answered, the recognition we received or gave, the conversations we had, etc.

That daily review is also a great place to look for opportunities to recognize your coworkers!

Things are changing constantly these days, especially around work and AI. The best way to get comfortable with this new world is to set aside some time to play with it and experiment. Writing prompts is an iterative process, and it takes time to figure out how much detail Claude needs in order to pull the right data from connectors, and really do what you want it to.

When in doubt, you can always look at how the skills in the Bonusly Claude plugin are written to get some ideas. They're all written in Markdown and should be human readable. Just ignore the top part with "name" and "description" - that's just metadata to tell Claude what the skill does.
