Understanding Bonusly Plans

Bonusly offers three plans: Free, Team, and Organization, each designed for a different stage of your team's growth.

This article will help you to understand what you get on each plan, so you always know what's available to you and what upgrading would unlock.


Free Plan

The Free plan gives small teams everything they need to start building a recognition habit together—with subscription costs $0/month!

What you can do:

  • Give and receive peer-to-peer recognition with points tied to your company values.

  • Run 1:1s with goals—prep agendas, take shared notes, and track action items.

  • Use check-ins and celebrations—birthdays, work anniversaries, and new hire welcomes happen automatically.

  • Connect Slack or Microsoft Teams so recognition lives where your team already works.

  • Redeem rewards—gift cards, charitable donations, and more from the Bonusly catalog.

  • Use mobile apps on iOS and Android to recognize from anywhere.

Good to know:

  • The Free plan supports up to 8 users. It's a great fit for small teams that want to try Bonusly without a commitment.

  • Integrations are limited to Slack and Microsoft Teams. HRIS integrations, bulk user upload, and other advanced connectors are available starting on the Team plan.


Team

The Team plan is built for growing teams that need more flexibility, more integrations, and more tools for managers. Everything on the Free plan is included, plus:

  • Unlimited users—no cap on how many people can participate.

  • HRIS integrations—connect BambooHR, Workday, or use SCIM provisioning to keep your roster in sync automatically.

  • Bulk CSV upload—add or update users in batches when you need to.

  • Manager tools and Team Hub—managers get nudges to recognize direct reports, visibility into team recognition patterns, and a central hub for their team's activity.

  • Pulse checks—quick, lightweight surveys to take the temperature of your team.

  • Budget management—configure and manage recognition budgets across the organization.

  • Points Boost—give someone's recognition extra weight when it deserves it.

  • Kiosk Mode and Digital Signage—display recognition on shared screens so everyone can see it, even without a personal device.

  • Additional integrations -- Google Chat, Zapier, Jostle, Company Swag (Axomo), Widget, API, and Atom feeds.

Who it's for: Teams that are ready to scale recognition across a larger group, bring in their HR tools, and give managers better visibility into their team's culture.


Organization

The Organization plan is designed for companies that want structured recognition programs, enterprise-grade controls, and deeper analytics. Everything on the Team plan is included, plus:

Recognition programs:

  • Awards -- create structured recognition programs where designated givers (admins, managers, or specific users) grant points-based awards for standout contributions. Each award has its own budget, eligible givers, and optional approval process.

  • Nominations -- let employees nominate peers for specific awards or recognition categories. Run Employee of the Month programs, leadership awards, or any nomination-based recognition.

  • Incentives -- set up claimable rewards for completing specific activities like training modules, wellness programs, or referrals. Employees browse available incentives and claim them when they've completed the activity.

  • Flash Points -- distribute temporary bonus point budgets for a limited time to drive a burst of recognition during a product launch, appreciation week, or busy season. Unused Flash Points expire when the window closes.

Strategy and alignment:

  • Company Initiatives -- make company-wide strategic priorities visible to everyone, so employees can see how their work connects to the bigger picture.

  • Goals linked to Initiatives -- connect individual and team goals to Company Initiatives, creating a clear line from day-to-day work to organizational strategy.

Analytics and reporting:

  • Advanced Analytics and Insights -- a full dashboard with visualizations of recognition patterns, engagement metrics, collaboration maps, and leaderboards. Filter by department, team, and time period to understand your recognition culture at a glance.

  • Expanded Reporting -- additional report types beyond the basics, including Participation Summary, Total Points Given, Total Points Earned, and Incentives Summary. Schedule reports as recurring email subscriptions.

Enterprise controls:

  • SAML SSO -- enterprise single sign-on via Okta, OneLogin, and other SAML-compliant identity providers. (Google SSO is available on all plans.)

  • Announcements -- broadcast company-wide updates directly in the recognition feed, so important news appears where employees are already engaged.

  • Recognition Visibility Controls -- let givers choose whether recognition is public, team-only, or private, so the visibility matches the context.

  • Display Customization -- control content types in recognition posts (toggle GIFs, images, video, avatar uploads) and choose whether to show or hide competitive features like leaderboards.

  • Email Customization -- brand Bonusly notification emails with your company's look and feel.

  • Custom Saved Feeds -- create personalized filtered views of the recognition feed beyond the default For You, Team, Company, and Your Activity feeds.

Who it's for: Larger organizations that need formal recognition programs with controlled budgets, enterprise authentication, and data-driven insights into their recognition culture.

FAQs

What plan am I on? Your admin can check your current plan in Admin Settings > Billing. If you're not an admin, ask your Bonusly admin -- they'll be able to tell you.

Why can't I find a feature someone mentioned? Some features are only available on certain plans. If you've heard about Awards, Incentives, or Advanced Analytics but can't find them in your account, your company may be on the Free or Team plan. Check the comparison above to see which plan includes the feature you're looking for.

What happens if we downgrade? If your company moves from Organization to Team, Organization-only settings that were previously enabled will remain active, but admins won't be able to modify them. Features exclusive to Organization (like Awards and Incentives) will no longer be accessible.

Does Google SSO require the Organization plan? No. Google SSO (OAuth) is available on all plans. SAML SSO -- for enterprise identity providers like Okta and OneLogin—is available on the Organization plan.

Can we try Organization features before upgrading? Talk to your Bonusly account team about a trial. They can help you explore what Organization offers and whether it's the right fit for your company.

What's the difference between Celebrations and Awards? Celebrations (birthdays, work anniversaries, and new hire welcomes) are automatic and available on all plans. Awards are manually granted by designated givers, have their own budgets and approval workflows, and are available on the Organization plan.

How do I upgrade? Your admin can upgrade directly from Admin Settings > Billing, or reach out to the Bonusly team for help choosing the right plan.
