Email customization lets you control how key Bonusly emails look and sound when they go out to your people. Instead of generic system messages, you can align emails with your brand voice, tone, and values.

This matters because emails are often a user’s first touchpoint with Bonusly. A clear, friendly, on-brand message increases trust, improves activation, and reduces confusion for new users.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Customize Emails

  1. Go to Company Admin → Account Settings → Email Customization

  2. Toggle Use company logo in emails (optional)

  3. Customize available emails:

    • Welcome email

      • Appears only if Send welcome emails is enabled

      • Customize subject, header, body, and button text

    • Invite email

      • Appears only if web login is enabled

      • Customize subject, header, and body

  4. Use Preview to see how the email will look

  5. Click Save

  6. Use Reset to defaults anytime to revert


Limits & Controls

To keep emails clean and readable:

  • Subject line: 50 characters

  • Header/title: 50 characters

  • Welcome button text: 20 characters

  • Body text: 400 characters (rich text supported)

Each email type includes:

  • Preview button

  • Reset to defaults button


FAQs

1. Why don’t I see the welcome email editor?

The welcome email editor only appears if Send welcome emails is enabled.

2. What happens if I leave a field blank?

Bonusly automatically uses the default copy for your plan.

3. Can I fully replace the default email content?

Yes, but only within the character limits. Anything you don’t customize will stay default.

4. Can I undo my changes?

Yes. Use Reset to defaults for any email type.

5. Can I preview emails before saving?

Yes. Every email editor includes a Preview button.

6. Does customizing emails affect existing users?

No. These settings apply to future welcome and invite emails only.

7. Can I customize other system emails?

Currently, only the welcome email and invite email are supported.
